THUTO THEMBA

Thuto Themba is a School Operating Partner, established by a consortium of dynamic organisations that seek, through working together to really make a difference in the accessibility of quality education for more learners in South Africa. We represent years of experience in the running of low-cost quality schools, educational innovation, teacher training and capacity development. In addition, we have secured a working partnership with ABESA, a body inside the Anglican church seeking solutions for underserved communities and their quest for quality education.

WORKING IN CLOSE PARTNERSHIP WITH THE

Anglican Board of Education in Southern Africa

Thuto Themba has the resources and footprint of the Anglican Church to ensure that we can be value-adding in a short time. We also intend to contribute to innovation in the education space in the following way:

Academic Model

Thuto Themba will build and use the most appropriate academic school models for primary schools (combining online/in-school or more traditional) to achieve financial sustainability.

Efficient Education

Achieve a cost-saving model that separates non-academic and academic management, with resultant cost efficiencies. We are able to lower costs by using land and buildings belonging to the Anglican Church.

Learning Support

With a strong emphasis on the “soul of education” focusing on values, entrepreneurial thinking, global competencies and psychosocial support for learners and teachers.

FOR 2023

CURRENTLY CO-FUNDED FOR THE FIRST YEAR

by the Michael and Susan Dell Foundation as well as the PSP consortium [Public Schools Partnership].

Thuto Themba will, in year one, achieve the following:

  • Develop into a School Operating Partner in the Collaboration Schools Project in the Western Cape
  • Develop a new low-cost schooling model for Primary Schools
  • Do due diligence on schools within the ABESA network to establish the viability of re-establishing the schools within a Collaboration Model
  • Do advocacy for extending a Collaborative Schools project/model in provinces other than the Western Cape
